Alton Towers is one of The uk’s most popular tourist attractions. Alton Towers is a theme park, located in the charming Staffordshire countryside – but despite its quiet and tranquil setting, it offers loads of thrills for visitors.
Alton Towers has a wide variety of rides and activities – it’s not just huge terrifying roller coasters – so there’s something for the entire family to enjoy.
Some of the “headline” rides do specify a minimum height, so the smallest members of your family may not be allowed on for their own safety.
Luckily there are ample other things to do from kid’s rides like the Beastie, or kids can test their abilities in the driving school.
Although lots of people go to Alton Towers for the big-name rides, don’t forget that there are also some wonderful gardens to enjoy, which may appeal to some members of the family. Alton Towers also has a water park on site – though this is in effect a separate attraction and you need to buy separate tickets from the theme park.
There’s no doubt, this Theme Park isn’t the least expensive attraction you can go to (though it may be the most fun) – but there are ways to economize: Booking in advance on the web is more economical than purchasing your tickets on the day. There are also family tickets, group discounts and a fantastic-value two-day pass – any of which will ease the burden on your purse.
There are two hotels on site: Splash Landings, and the Alton Towers Hotel. These are perfect if you want to get an early start, or if you want to spend more than a single day at the resort.
Rememberto check the Alton Towers opening times before your visit, as these can vary during the year.
Everyone has their own preferred rides – but here are some of the best:
Nemesis is usually thought of as one of the best roller coasters in Britain, and indeed a recent opinion poll rated it as number three in the world! It’s an inverted roller coaster (so you don’t sit in it, and your legs swing free). With a top speed of 50mph, you’ll feel as much as 3.5g as you fly through the air, enjoying vertical loops, stall turns and more.
If you’ve ever dreamed of flying like a bird – then Air is the ride you’ll want to get on. Designed to offer the feeling of flying – there’s nothing else quite like it.
Oblivion – the first vertical drop roller coaster in the world is quite different – it offers riders the chance to dive 180 feet into a sinister hole in the ground. Designed to be terrifying, it evidently succeeded, as local people took Alton Towers to court complaining about the screaming!
Whenever you choose to go – you’re certain to have a brilliant day at Alton Towers!.
