Am I dumber than the average computer user? Being reduced to that mentality bothers me in a big way because I know I am not stupid. But at times when I need to get the answer to a technical issue I will check with a computer guru. Many times, their bodily actions tell me that I am bothering them.
You would not think that a routine questions about ‘Best way to speed up my computer’ could reduce someone’s self-esteem but it can. So finding the answer to technical questions does not need to be an exercise in futility. Does it mean that people who are not technically up to speed need to be talked down to? No it does not.
On to the problem at hand. You have to know that if someone like me can solve this problem then there is hope for you. In short, what I discovered was that most of these kinds of issues are related to ‘Microsofts Poor Design of the Registry’. And there are affordable fixes to aide us down that path to becoming our own ‘Geek’ in our little world whether business or pleasure.
Slow computers have become a mainstay among many people. The thought is ‘That is the way it is’ but in reality it does not have to be. It comes down to user education and using common sense and not letting a self-proclaimed techie mis-diagnosis the real problem. Many times it is that very mentality of not wanting to be bothered that pushes the actual problem out of sight. In what I have discovered is the operating system that is the failing point. Just like a car the operating system needs cleaning so the bad oil does not gunk up the engine.
The operating system is the Achilles heel of the computer and especially if Microsoft is the brand. ‘Why?’ you ask. It is my opinion that they developed a system that would not be smart enough to fix it self. You see there are three areas within the OS that contribute to the overall problem of a slow computer; the Registry, Startup file, and Uninstalled applications. Granted there are a few other lessor issues but these are the bulk of the problems.
So the solution is very simple. You need to Lipo-Suction your computer. That’s right. You need to, because the ability is now at your finger tips. No longer is it scary or intimidating. Think about it, you and me both had a little trepidation and the PC literate folks who took advantage of that by playing off of those fears.
